Those really do have some quirks and features, I rode in one of these when I was 13 it was brand new, I remember being jealous of my friends rich Dad and his e55 amg, the guy also had a 1990 Ferrari, he told me the Mercedes was way faster and I was a kid so I thought he was yanking my chain! I had one of theses for about a year, Initially fell in love with the power train, but getting more used to it, i started to notice more of the cars short comings. I could never learn to like the headlights, the hood is massive, no locking diff. It has a hard time putting the power down in anything other than a straight line.. Handling/airmatic and slow auto on this is its major Achilles heel. Nice interior though. I swapped mine for an e39 M5, and although down on power, it is the complete package, never looked back.

I have the CLK 55 cabriolet from the generation before. This will be my next AMG you find me a car that’s from the early 2000s that still works modern today. That’s the thing about Mercedes Benz Kenseal a.k.a. from the 90s and it doesn’t really look that auto place where as if you put a Cadillac from the 90s it would look really long in the tooth. The sun roof cover has those slats in it because you can just raise the rear of the sunroof up to let in a little air without having to open the entire thing. My S500 has it too!

I believe the lines in the sunroof cover is to allow hot air to escape when the vehicle is parked with the sunroof popped up. Since hot air rises it escapes through those lines and keeps the interior cooler. This is just a theory though lol.
