Everything you said before the 17 minute mark is true and works in my favor. It keeps the casual people away from this car, which is already rare to begin with. Many people will track or do performance driving with these cars, which is the way it should be. Sure, you can modify for show/looks, but as you mentioned, there is only so much you can do with a Lancer interior before it gets old/boring. No need to find an 8/9, the interior is even worse and don't even start talking about safety lol. I own a modded 9 and use it primarily for autocross or quick weekend drives to keep things moving. If I had to drive this thing every day, I would kill myself. At the same time, I would not sell it for anything, it really is that great.

Why would they bother with equipping the Evo with special steering wheels, buttons and door panel materials when they know every single one's going to be stripped out of all that for weight saving when modifying the car for rallies and the steering wheels are going to be replaced with some MOMO racing versions.

That Evo has been modified! Recaro ended the partnership with Mitsubishi in 2013. meaning the 2104 and 2015 models had non Recaro seats. Unless they had some leather Recaros held back for the ssl package maybe?

You have to praise Mitsubishi for making a sportscar in the same factory line that they make all their other cars. It was just as simple as pushing a button and then you got a Evo out of a standard Lancer, no matter how cheap things may look. This is a car that will kill your Ferrari if you sleep on it. From the outside (and inside too hahahaha) still looking a family compact sedan. Ultimate Sleeper, maybe?

My wife owned an FQ 360 with flappy paddle trans, but replaced the exhaust with an Akrapovic set because "it doesn't sound like a rally car", we rallied it around the Scottish highlands and British B roads for years but running costs on that thing were CRAZY. We got a brand new BMW M2 and it's a lot cheaper to run and keep, but we miss those HKS turbos. That one looks like a very low end evo x, not the all bells and whistles of the higher FQ levels.

Another way to tell the difference between the evo and non evo lancers is the gas lid. The evo is square while the others are a circle. Also the rear quoter panels are different.

Mitsubishi should have kept it going. The next model should have been a hatch back. If they gradually transitioned it to a small sport crossover and kept it small and rally-able I think they would be doing quite well.

Mr DeMuro . I love rally car street versions lot more then racing car sportcar street versions. Why. They are more "sleepers" whit wolf heard and more practical then sportscars + cheaper too. Gravel roads Yes thy are then too when is raods on road work and asphalt is remowed. Here in Estonia is 27 % gravel roads + in sunmmer tramac roads is 10% on road works (total 4.000 miles ) and on county is in durning year 3-4 monts snow and icy roads.
